2025

NASO @ HOME x The Vinya Weaving Lab, 2025

The partnership between NASO AT HOME and Vinya Weaving Lab was a design-led, artisan collaboration focused on reimagining traditional craft into contemporary lifestyle products.

At its core, the collaboration combined:

  • NASO AT HOME’s lifestyle + design sensibility
  • Vinya’s expertise in traditional weaving and regenerative craft systems

Key Project: Reimagined Hampers

One of the most concrete outputs of the collaboration was:

Custom “@ Home Beauty” Hampers

  • Developed as part of a project referenced as “What Design Can Do”
  • Focused on gifting and lifestyle experiences
  • Featured:
    • Handwoven sisal elements
    • Metal frame structures
    • A reinterpretation of the traditional hamper basket

The idea was to transform a simple basket into a designed object — something architectural, aesthetic, and culturally rooted.

Additionally, the founder of NASO AT HOME noted they:

  • “reimagined a traditional hamper basket”
  • created a house-like structure using metal + weaving

This suggests the collaboration wasn’t just decorative — it was conceptual and experimental, blending materials and storytelling.

Shared Philosophy

The partnership makes a lot of sense when you look at both brands:

NASO AT HOME

  • Focuses on home, rituals, slow living, and design
  • Works with local artisans and handmade products

Vinya Weaving Lab

  • A regenerative design studio
  • Uses weaving as:
    • craft
    • storytelling tool
    • method for systems change and community building (Catalyst Now)

Their collaboration sits at the intersection of:

  • Craft + contemporary design
  • Cultural storytelling
  • Sustainability and local materials (like sisal)
  • Women-led and artisan-centered production

Deeper Meaning of the Work

This wasn’t just a product collab — it reflects a broader movement in African design:

  • Reclaiming traditional techniques (weaving)
  • Applying them to modern lifestyle products
  • Creating economically meaningful work for artisans
  • Designing with circular / regenerative principles

Vinya, in particular, frames weaving as:

a way to connect communities, knowledge, and systems (Catalyst Now)

So NASO AT HOME plugging into that ecosystem signals:
a shift from “decor brand” → to culturally engaged design platform

The NASO AT HOME × Vinya Weaving Lab collaboration was:

  • A co-design partnership
  • Focused on elevated, handcrafted home + gifting products
  • Rooted in Kenyan materials and artisan skills
  • Driven by shared values of sustainability, storytelling, and community

The ‘@ Home Beauty’ Experience, 2025

Welcome to ‘@ Home Beauty’ by NASO @ Home.

Curated gift hampers and wellness sets that can be tailored for many occasions — birthdays, bridal showers, corporate gifts, or personal treats. Each hamper blends products meant to elevate self-care and relaxation, combining fragrance, texture, ritual, and aesthetic in one package. You can choose from pre-set collections or customise hampers by selecting scents, colours, and product combinations that suit your taste or the recipient’s personality.

“Beauty” here isn’t limited to traditional skincare or makeup — it’s about crafting beautiful at-home moments focused on rest, connection, self-care, and quality time. Products act as tools that enable those moments, while their presentation and curation emphasize intentional living.

This approach extends beyond product functionality to the feeling and ritual of using them, bringing the concept of beauty into daily atmosphere and wellness.

Here’s our launch party in May 2025 that included beauty and wellness activities, expert talks, brunch and interactive experiences — reinforcing our brand’s lifestyle and self-care ethos.

NASO, its a lifestyle.

‘The Brass Project’, 2025

Exotic Designs Ke. is a Nairobi-based artisanal studio blending hand-hammered brass with Swahili cultural storytelling, producing functional art pieces like lamps, décor, and furniture. Their work is textural, customizable, and available at Lavington Mall.

In 2025, NASO @ Home partnered with Exotic Designs to create candle holders and containers made from their recycled brass, after meeting Ted from @exoticdesignskenya at @kiberaartsdistrict @hofgallerykibera during the Powerful Kenyan Women exhibition.

The design for our brass project was created (by Yasmine of NASO @ Home) using AI, specifically Google Image FX. Yasmine knew after seeing Ted’s work at the event and discussing the teams ability to take our idea and bring it to life, that we would work together on a project for NASO @ Home.

Our brass candles will be launched on March 7th during our ‘NASO Living’ event alongside Exotic Designs. Tickets available exclusively on Mookh [Tickets].

‘Making Green Fun’, 2025

In 2025, NASO @ Home launched ‘Making Green Fun’ a unique, hands on experience that celebrates sustainability, creativity and connection to the Earth, alongside ‘Friends of Creation’ a waste management and recycling centre in Tigoni, Kenya.

Real Hope Community Foundation, 2025

In 2025, NASO @ Home was proud to partner with the Real Hope Community Foundation in Kawangware to deliver hands-on candle making workshops directly to participants’ based in their community centre.

Each NASO @ Home workshop includes delivery of all candle making materials, step-by-step guided instructions, and ongoing mentorship through Q&A and regular visits to the community centre. Participants learn the full candle making process, from melting and moulding to scenting, finishing, and basic product presentation. The program emphasizes creativity, self-reliance, and small-scale entrepreneurship, enabling participants to explore candle making as a personal skill (our program goes really well with the in-flight Knitting Club).

Through this initiative, Real Hope Community Foundation continues its commitment to fostering hope, resilience, and economic opportunity within Kawangware—bringing skills training directly into children’s lives and removing barriers to participation.
